I didn't want all the tracks concerning The Thing to be all gloom and Doom (Pun intended). So here was an upbeat one for ol' Ben.
I loved the Wes Anderson movie Bottlerocket. In the film he uses a song called "Alone Again Or" by the band Love. Well, that was the basic inspiration for "Clobberin' Time". Now if you really listen closely, you just might hear some melodic nods to John Cougar Mellencamp's "Jack and Diane" and... Prince's "Uptown"!
lyrics
It happened fast as lightning, now I stare at orange cold rock and I’m alone
Can’t look at myself and I can’t ask why
Father Father here me calling I rarely know what’s right or wrong
It took me a while to get use to myself as an orange hulk but I feel fine
Every night I dream of dark days corrupted things and endless crime
My heart is beating as fast as it can
As soon as we got there, bad times were rolling
And I can’t let it be, for the life of me
