I'm going to write a quick little wrap up of each song for the curious. Let's face it, there will never be a "Behind the Music" or "Story Tellers"for the wee turtles, so I might as well put it here!
This was the set up track for the album. I originally wanted it to have an "electronica" feel with drum machines and such. Luckily, Jeremy (our Drummer) is basically a machine anyway, just program him in!
The Wee Turtles were on a compilation CD by Earworm Records (who also put out "This Land Is Your Land" on vinyl in the UK, thank you again Dominic!). Also on the compilation was a song called "Play Away" by the band Electric Sounds of Joy. I simply loved the song, and it inspired me to write "When We Crash landed". Also (and I admit this guilt free), there is a heavy Cranberries influence going on... at least in my head!
lyrics
I was dealing with a ghost from my dream
I gathered all the data and built a machine
Working on a starship, take my friends out for a ride
Things are gonna be different when we fall from the sky
And the radiation we forgot to block ourselves from is taking over me.
When we crash landed, what a strange scene
My friend Ben is orange and I’m stretching
My girl friends’ invisible, her brothers’ wrapped in flames
A solar flare made the four of us change.
And the radiation we forgot to block ourselves from is taking over me.
